Expedia Drops American Airlines Tickets From Site

Travel reservations Web site Expedia EXPE has dropped American Airlines tickets from its Web site, adding more fuel to the fire in a contentious relationship between select online travel sites and some major airlines. American AMR recently removed its fares from Expedia rival Orbitz OWW, prompting Expedia to list American fares lower in its searches due to its own concerns that American would cancel its Expedia contract. American has told customers to use other travel sites, specifically recomending kayak.com and Priceline PCLN. Expedia's contract with American is due to expire in the next few months. American wants to cut costs by trimming the fees it pays to the global distribution systems, according to Dow Jones. Expedia has called American's proposal "anti-consumer."
