US Stock Futures Signal Higher Start On Wall Street, Boeing Earnings In Focus

US stock futures are higher this morning, following President Barack Obama's State of the Union speech. Investors are awaiting earnings reports and monetary policy announcement by the Federal Reserve. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 35 points to 11,957.00 and S&P 500 futures rose 5.60 points to 1,293.30. Nasdaq 100 futures climbed 9 points at 2,310.25. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 3.33 points or less than 0.1% yesterday. Data on December new-home sales will be released at 10 a.m. ET. However, latest statement from the Fed is due at 2:15 p.m. ET. Yahoo Inc YHOO reported its Q4 net income at $312 million, or $0.24 per share, up from $153 million, or $0.11 per share, in the year-earlier period. The company's net revenue dropped 4% to $1.21 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings at $0.22 per share on revenue of $1.19 billion. YHOO projected its Q1 net revenue between $1.02 billion and $1.08 billion, down from analysts' estimates of $1.13 billion. ConocoPhillips COP is expected to post its Q4 EPS at $1.31 on revenue of $46.09 billion. Boeing Co BA is expected to report its Q4 EPS at $1.11 on revenue of $16.97 billion. Netflix NFLX is forecast to post its Q4 EPS at $0.71 on revenue of $597.49 million. Starbucks SBUX is projected to report its Q1 earnings at $0.39 per share on revenue of $2.93 billion. President Obama proposed to reduce corporate taxes and increase spending for education, innovation and infrastructure in the world's largest economy. Positive sentiment ruled the European markets today. While STOXX Europe 600 Index has gained 1.07%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved up 1.32%. Asian markets ended mixed, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average dropping 0.60% and China's Shanghai Composite rising 1.17%. The US dollar fell marginally.
