NXP Down 4% On Rumors iPhone Will Pick Qualcomm As NFC Chip (AAPL, QCOM, NXPI)

Shares of NXP Semiconductors NV NXPI are down more than 4% this morning on a report out of the NY Times that Qualcomm QCOM will be the chip provider for Near Field Communications (NFC) in the Apple AAPL iPhone. There has been much speculation that NXP, which is the leader in NFC chips would be the chip provider for Apple should the company choose to put NFC in its phones, but according to this report, this isn't the case. The NY Times report cited two people close to the situation. Shares of NXPI are down $1.25 in pre-market trading to $26.60, a loss of 4.5%.
