Texas Instruments Inc TXN announced its plans to acquire National Semiconductor Corp NSM for $6.5 billion in cash. TXN will buy NSM for $25 per share, representing a 78% premium to NSM's closing price on Monday. TXN shares fell 1.55% to $33.58 in the after-hours trading session, while NSM shares jumped 72.71% to $24.30 in after-hours trading.
Analysts are expecting Layne Christensen Company LAYN to have earned $0.36 per share on revenue of $254.39 million in the fourth quarter. LAYN shares rose 0.69% to close at $35.14 yesterday.
American Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of AMR Corporation AMR, and Expedia Inc EXPE reached an agreement to resume doing business with each other, effective immediately. AMR shares gained 0.96% to $6.33 in after-hours trading, while EXPE shares surged 6.20% to $23.82 in the after-hours trading session.
Analysts expect Verint Systems Inc VRNT to report its Q4 earnings at $0.52 per share on revenue of $180.27 million. VRNT shares climbed 1.21% to close at $36.74 yesterday.
