No More Mini? Apple's iPhone 15 Release Might Discontinue Compact Models

Apple Inc. AAPL is reportedly planning to phase out the iPhone mini models with the launch of the iPhone 15, which is set for unveiling this week.

What Happened: Renowned Apple analyst, Mark Gurman, recently hinted at the dwindling inventory of iPhone 13 mini in a tweet. He also reported that Apple’s stock of other products, including Apple Watch Ultras, Watch bands, leather cases, and MagSafe wallets, is running low. The tech giant is anticipated to drop the prices of several older iPhone models by $100 to coincide with the new release.

The iPhone 13 mini, however, may be on the chopping block post the iPhone 15 event. Rumors suggest that the ‘mini’ size could vanish from Apple’s product range this year.

This could indicate that Apple may not restock these items after Tuesday’s event. The first-gen Apple Watch Ultra is also expected to be phased out with the launch of a second generation this year.

While the future of the iPhone 13 mini remains uncertain, the iPhone 13 is expected to still be available for purchase post the event, possibly at a discounted price of $599 with carrier offers ($629 unlocked).

Why does it matter: The potential discontinuation of the iPhone 13 mini suggests that the era of compact iPhones might be winding down. The current alternative, iPhone SE 3, features an older design without Face ID.
