Apple Online Store Is Temporarily Down Ahead Of The iPhone 15 Launch Event

As the tech world buzzes with anticipation for the iPhone 15Apple Inc. AAPL has temporarily halted operations on its online store, further fueling the excitement.

What Happened: Apple has replaced its online store with a placeholder message: “Be right back”. This tactic has been a staple of Apple’s strategy during major product launches. For now, visitors are directed to “Watch the event” with no other options available, temporarily suspending online purchases.

While the closure does not guarantee the immediate availability of new products post-launch, the website is anticipated to be back up and running with details about the iPhone 15, Apple Watch Series 9, and other releases once the event concludes.

Upon reopening, the store might also feature new accessories like Watch bands. Customers may be allowed to customize their iPhone 15, but they will likely have to hold off on pre-orders until the date Apple specifies, traditionally the Friday after the launch.

Why It Matters: The upcoming “Wonderlust” event on September 12 is expected to showcase a range of Apple’s latest innovations, including the much-anticipated iPhone 15 series, updates to the Apple Watch and AirPods, and upcoming software updates.

Despite the excitement, some observers, such as Deepwater Asset Management Managing Partner Gene Munster, have expressed concerns that the event may not meet high expectations, particularly if there are no surprise new products or AI developments. Munster anticipates that the event will mainly feature enhancements to the iPhone, including camera improvements, a faster chip, better battery life, a lighter titanium casing, and a new programmable button, similar to the Apple Watch.

Rumors suggest that pre-orders for the iPhone 15 will begin on September 15, with sales starting on September 22. However, those interested in the iPhone 15 Pro Max might have to wait a bit longer due to potential delays with camera components.
