Mark Milley Rebuffs Trump's Accusations of Secret China Dealings: 'They Were Authorized...Congress Knows That'

General Mark Milley recently defended his actions during his tenure as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, asserting that his dealings with China were neither inappropriate nor treasonous.

CBS aired the interview on Sunday, where Milley addressed criticism from former President Donald Trump and discussed the current state of the U.S. military.

Trump accused Milley of such egregious dealings with China that they would have warranted capital punishment in the past.

However, Milley refuted these allegations, stating, “Absolutely not. Zero. None. And not only that, they were authorized. They’re coordinated. Congress knows that.”

He further clarified that the intent behind his conversations with China was to dispel their concerns about a potential attack from the U.S. under Trump’s administration.

On the topic of the U.S. military, Milley acknowledged the institution’s dwindling public confidence, attributing it partly to his own actions. He cited the controversial incident where he posed for a picture with Trump during the George Floyd protests and the withdrawal from Afghanistan as contributing factors.

Despite these challenges, Milley expressed confidence in the U.S. military, describing it as “still one of the most respected institutions in the United States by a long shot.”

While he recognized the need for improvement, he stood by the integrity and strength of the institution.
