Former US President, Donald Trump, has filed a lawsuit against an ex-British spy, Christopher Steele, over a controversial dossier that Trump alleges falsely damaged his reputation.
The lawsuit was presented at the London High Court. The claims were part of a dossier created by Steele in 2016, which contained rumors and unverified allegations about Trump that caused a significant political uproar prior to his inauguration, reported AP News.
Trump is suing the company established by Steele, Orbis Business Intelligence, for supposedly breaching British data protection laws.
Attorney Hugh Tomlinson, on behalf of Trump, said the report "contained shocking and scandalous claims about the personal conduct of President Trump" and included allegation he bribed Russian officials for his business interests.

Tomlinson highlighted the ex-president’s suffering due to the violation of his data protection rights, which has caused personal and reputational damage. Steele’s firm, however, is seeking to have the case dismissed.
The lawsuit is unfolding while Trump is experiencing legal challenges in the U.S., including a civil fraud trial in New York and four separate criminal cases.
Despite the ongoing legal battles, Trump remains the front-runner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
