For its upcoming “Scary Fast” Halloween event, Apple Inc. AAPL appears to be taking an unusual evening approach to generate hype and create an engaging virtual experience for viewers.
What Happened: The Tim Cook-led company has been gearing up for a Halloween event scheduled for the evening of Oct. 30, breaking away from Apple’s usual daytime events.
Considering the event won’t involve an in-person gathering at Apple Park, Cupertino has sent gift boxes to various online personalities, including Lamarr Wilson, inviting them to join an online watch party.
The contents of the boxes are carefully curated to match the Halloween theme of the event. Alongside a note from Apple, the influencers received a pair of AirPods Max and some “sweet and spooky” snacks and drinks, reported 9To5Mac.
“To make your viewing experience a bit more ‘spatial,’ we hope you will enjoy immersive listening with AirPods Max, along with a few sweet and spooky snacks,” the note read.
The event is set to kick off at 5:00 PM PT / 8:00 PM ET and will be accessible through platforms like the Apple TV app, YouTube, and the company’s website.
While Apple fans eagerly await potential surprises, expectations are primarily centered on the release of new Macs, 24-inch iMacs, and the introduction of new M3 chips under Apple Silicon.
Why It’s Important: It is worth noting that previously popular tech analyst Mark Gurman raised doubts about the event showcasing groundbreaking visual innovations, citing the shift to online-only presentations. “Given that next week is online-only, I wouldn’t expect anything visually new of significance.”
It has also been speculated that, given the evening slot, this could be a mini-event. “Shorter and less grand.”
