Nancy Pelosi Slams No Labels' Third-Party Effort To 'Jeopardize' Joe Biden's Re-Election: 'Perilous To Our Democracy'

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has attacked the centrist group No Labels, branding its third-party presidential bid as a threat to democracy and President Joe Biden’s reelection. The statements were made at a breakfast meeting with reporters on Thursday.

According to a CBS News report, Pelosi stated, “I think that No Labels is perilous to our democracy. I say that completely without any hesitation. This is about an illusion being created, that it’s about non-partisanship and bringing people together.”

“When they jeopardize the reelection of Joe Biden as president of the United States, I can no longer remain silent on them,” Pelosi added.

Pelosi and Jonathan Cowan, president of Third Way, a centrist Democratic group, believe that No Labels’ real aim is to prevent the main party candidates from securing the necessary 270 electoral votes to win the presidential race. This could pave the way for a third-party candidate to win in the final hour.

The national co-chair of No Labels, former Republican Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, responded to Pelosi’s comments, accusing her of trying to gather political points. He defended No Labels, stating that it has been working for 14 years to foster bipartisanship and tackle extremism.

Pelosi also expressed her concerns about the lack of apparent support for President Biden, attributing this to most Americans not yet focusing on the upcoming presidential election.

In addition, she criticized independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., stating she was against his anti-vaxxer stance and would discourage his White House bid.

Lastly, Pelosi commented on newly elected House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), wishing him well but also suggesting he is being controlled by Donald Trump.
