In an interesting turn of events, Elon Musk‘s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, Grok, displayed an openness to befriend his ex-partner Grimes’ new AI toy, also named Grok, amid the ongoing custody battle between them.
What Happened: Business Insider reported on Friday that Musk’s AI chatbot Grok, when set in “Fun Mode,” took a conversational tone and expressed interest in befriending Grimes’ new AI toy. The chatbot humorously stated, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery,” and hoped for a “fun coincidence” that could bring joy and knowledge to their audiences.
Curiosity was expressed about the “unique experience” of Grimes’ AI toy, with the chatbot envisioning potential collaboration on fun projects. In contrast, Curio, the producer of Grimes’ AI toy, confirmed to The Washington Post that their product has no relation to Musk’s chatbot. The toy’s name, Grok, was inspired by Grimes’ children’s exposure to rockets due to Musk’s work with SpaceX.
Why It Matters: The emergence of AI toys in the market has been gaining traction, with Grimes launching the toy with Curio. The toy shaped like a plush rocketship is designed to engage children Despite its name it has no connection to Musk’s language model of the same name.
On the other hand, Musk’s AI chatbot Grok began rolling out to X Premium+ subscribers earlier in December.
