Donald Trump’s niece Mary Trump weighed in on her uncle’s psychology, and his victory prospects in the 2024 general election, in an interview that was aired on Monday.
What Happened: Donald Trump hasn’t changed since his growing days and he continues to be somebody “who revels in grievance,… can’t actually accomplish anything on his own,” said Mary Trump in an interview with London-based talk radio station LBC.
“This is a dangerous person we already know because he’s telling us that if he does manage to get back into the White House again, his entire administration will be about settling grievances and getting revenge on his political opponents,” she said.
Mary Trump, a psychologist, also delved into the psychology behind her uncle’s actions. Donald Trump did not get the comfort and nurturing he needed at a young age due to his mother’s illness and his father’s sociopathic nature, she suggested.
“When he got older those riffs were never repaired, and for reasons that are too complex to get into right now he became my grandfather’s favorite son — favored son, and ever since then he has found proxies for my grandfather to enable him through his most egregious failures and the Republican Party in the United States is continuing to do that today,” Mary Trump said.
She noted that her uncle grew up as someone who would destroy his enemies in his real-estate business by suing them or outspending them in lawsuits and it has since then become a pattern.
Mary Trump, however, said her uncle is not as strong as most thought. “Donald is one of the weakest, most pathetic people I’ve ever known in my life, she said. “Yet people who support him people who are on his side politically are afraid of him and that too is mystifying, it really is weird.”
Game Over In New York: In New York, the business is essentially over at least temporarily because the judge in the case continued the oversight of the company, Mary Trump. Last week, Donald Trump was slapped with a $350 fine in the state civil fraud lawsuit that alleged he inflated the value of his assets and properties to fraudulently secure bank loans.
A third party now has de facto control over how money gets spent and how Donald Trump could spend money, Mary Trump said. The former president and two of his adult sons are no longer allowed to do business in New York for three years, she added.
The psychologist and podcaster also said it’s going to be very difficult for them to get the loans they need. This judgment has added onto it the 2% interest and right now Donald Trump owed $450 million, his niece said.
Victory Chances: When asked whether Donald Trump will win the 2024 general election, Mary Trump said the Republican party hasn’t moved on despite the four indictments, 91 criminal charges, the loss of money, and loss of his “totally mythological reputation” as a successful businessman.
“That’s actually a little terrifying,” she said.
Mary Trump also said Donald Trump could be much more dangerous now than when he lost in 2020 as he is increasingly unhinged. “The more desperate he gets, the more judgments there are against him, the more he becomes actively involved in these criminal trials….the less in control he’s going to feel, the more he’s going to lash out,” she said.
What makes the former president even more dangerous is the fact that the entirety of the Republican party now seems to think that he incited an insurrection against the country and it doesn’t matter, she added.
If Donald Trump wins the 2024 election, American democracy is over, said Mary Trump. “Not only that, global democracy, Western liberal democracy is in serious danger,” she said. The podcaster noted that her uncle has said he would give Russian President Vladimir Putin the green light to invade Europe if the European members of the NATO alliance don’t agree to contribute more money.
This shows that the former president doesn’t have any idea how NATO works and he has also clarified whom he considers as his allies, she added.
About projections of victory for Donald Trump, his niece said the “American Media make it seem that way because apparently they’ve not learned the lessons of the election in 2016 and they make it much more about the horse race than the stakes.”
People will begin to pay attention only after three months or so or maybe not even until the summer when the conventions are held, she said.
