Trump Claps Back After Jimmy Kimmel Mocks Ex-President's Hush Money Trial, Plummeting DJT Stock: 'Stupid...Fool'

Former President Donald Trump responded to Jimmy Kimmel‘s jokes about his ongoing legal issues and the plummeting stock of his social media company, Truth Social.

What Happened: Trump took to his social media platform, to criticize Kimmel, the host of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Wednesday. He called Kimmel “stupid” and a “fool,” and also took a dig at Kimmel’s performance as the Oscars host.

"Stupid Jimmy Kimmel, who still hasn't recovered from his horrendous performance and big ratings drop as Host of The Academy Awards, especially when he showed he suffered from TDS, commonly known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, to the entire World by reading on air my TRUTH about how bad a job he was doing that night," Trump wrote, adding, "Supposedly his wife, and even management, begged him not to do it, ‘DON'T READ HIS TRUTH, JIMMY, PLEASE DON'T DO THIS,' they said."

Trump’s response came after Kimmel made a series of jokes about the former president’s legal troubles and the stock plunge of his media company, Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent company of Truth Social.

Kimmel’s monologue on Tuesday targeted Trump’s ongoing trial, his social media posts, and his company’s falling stock prices. "Only Donald Trump would complain about being under a gag order while violating that very gag order," Kimmel joked.

He also made jokes about Trump allegedly falling asleep in the courtroom and the reasons behind the hush money trial. "He's very sleepy. Is it possible his lawyers are tranquilizing him, to keep the outbursts at a minimum?”

Why It Matters: Trump is currently facing 34 criminal counts of falsifying business records in connection to reimbursements to his ex-fixer, Michael Cohen, who paid adult film star Stormy Daniels $130,000 to stay quiet about an alleged affair she had with the former president ahead of the 2016 election.

Kimmel has been a vocal critic of Trump, often using his show to mock the former president. Earlier this month, Kimmel mocked Trump’s Easter social media rant and also made fun of Trump’s daughter-in-law and RNC co-chair, Lara Trump, who chose Easter to release her new song, “Anything Is Possible,” which was contrasted with Beyonce’s acclaimed album “Cowboy Carter,” released the same day.

As the 2024 presidential election approaches, Trump is preparing to challenge President Joe Biden once again. According to Real Clear Politics, at the national level, Trump held 45.6% support among voters, While Biden trailed with 45.4% support.
