President Joe Biden shared his farewell letter that highlighted overcoming a pandemic and "the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression," as he nears his White House exit on Jan. 20.
Biden Bids Farewell: Biden wrote, "It has been the privilege of my life to serve this nation" in his farewell letter, echoing similar thoughts when he announced his surprising exit from the 2024 presidential election.
"Four years ago, we stood in a winter of peril and winter of possibilities. We were in the grip of the worst pandemic in a century, the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, and the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War," Biden said in the letter.
The president said the country came together and "emerged stronger, more prosperous, and more secure."
Biden highlights the current state of the American economy, calling it the strongest in the world. The president also highlights a record 16.6 million new jobs created.
"Wages are up. Inflation continues to come down."
Manufacturing, science, semiconductors and health care were industries highlighted in the farewell letter, showing American prosperity.
"America is an idea stronger than any army and larger than any ocean. It's the most powerful idea in the history of the world."
Biden's farewell letter was accompanied by a list of accomplishments and progress made over the last four years by the president and Vice President Kamala Harris.
"I have given my heart and my soul to our nation. And I have been blessed a million times in return with the love and support of the American people."

What's Next: Biden will leave the White House on Monday, Jan. 20 as President-elect Donald Trump is sworn in during an inauguration ceremony and welcomed back to the presidential role.
Trump defeated Harris in the 2024 election after the vice president became the Democratic candidate following Biden's exit from the race.
While he will no longer be president, Biden called for Americans to continue his progress in his letter.
"I hope you'll do your part to build on the progress we've made," Biden said.
Biden, who is expected to be present at Trump's inauguration, said Americans should "keep the faith."
"History is in your hands. The power is in your hands. The idea of America is in your hands."
Trump has been critical in recent weeks on executive orders and moves Biden has made ahead of his White House exit, saying he was making "the transition as difficult as possible."
Former presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama are also expected to attend Trump's inauguration, marking another moment for five former presidents to be together at one event following the funeral for former President Jimmy Carter.
Biden's exit comes as a new poll found that his approval rating declined during his four years in the White House and a progress report showed Americans believe many areas of the country got worse over the last four years.
