KIRIN HOLDINGS COMPA

Kirin is the second-largest brewer in Japan with a 28% market share. It holds a top share in the happoshu (low-malt beer) and new genre (no-malt beer) categories. Apart from beer, it also operates a wide range of alcoholic and soft beverage products in Japan. It has made several acquisitions, including Lion Nathan and National Foods in Australia, the second-largest Brazilian brewer Schincariol and Myanmar's biggest brewer over the past decade. It sold the businesses in Brazil and Myanmar in 2017 and 2023, respectively. In 2023, the company made a tender offer to bring Fancl on as a wholly owned subsidiary. Its revenue accounts for roughly 5% of Kirin's total sales. Its overseas business, which includes alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, represents about 40% of the group's sales.

Kirin Holdings Co (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/knbwy#OTC">KNBWY</a>) posted a wider net loss for the fiscal first quarter ended March.

Kirin Holdings posted a quarterly net loss of Y3.03 billion, versus a year-ago loss of Y2.11 billion. Kirin's sales rose 1.7% to Y497.29 billion from Y488.92 billion. 

Kirin Holdings' operating profit declined 23.3% Y25.31 billion from Y32.99 billion.

Kirin Holdings shares closed at $12.49 yesterday.

Kirin Holdings Posts Wider FQ1 Loss

Japan's Kirin Holdings Co (OTC: KNBWY) reported a 35% drop in its net profit for the business year ended December 31.

Kirin's net profit for the period declined to Y7.41 billion, from a year-ago profit of Y11.39 billion. Its sales dropped 4.9% to Y2.072 trillion from Y2.178 trillion. Its operating profit fell 5.8% to Y142.86 billion from Y151.61 billion. 

For this fiscal year, Kirin projects net profit to surge more than six-fold to Y48 billion. It also expects a 13% surge in operating profit. Kirin projects a 7.6% rise in its sales.

Kirin shares closed at $12.23 yesterday.
