<p>On Dec. 7, CubeSmart announced an increase in its quarterly dividend from $0.49 to $0.51 per share. The dividend has increased by 55% over the past five years. The $2.04 annual dividend presently yields 4.46%.</p>
<p>On Jan. 2, Jefferies analyst Jonathan Petersen upgraded CubeSmart from Hold to Buy and raised the price target from $38 to $53.</p>

<p>In addition to providing storage units, it also sells packing and moving supplies and provides insurance services. Public Storage was founded in 1972 and became a publicly traded REIT in 1995 when it merged with Storage Equities. It was added to the S&amp;P 500 in 2005. As of the end of the third quarter, its occupancy rate was 92.1%, but occupancy declined 1.2% from the third quarter of 2022.</p>
<p>Public Storage pays a $3 quarterly dividend. Its $12 annual dividend presently yields 4.09%.</p>
<p>Both Goldman Sachs and Truist Securities recently maintained Buy ratings on Public Storage. On Jan. 11, Goldman Sachs analyst Andrew Rosivach raised the price target from $307 to $340, and on Dec. 28, Truist Securities analyst Ki Bin Kim raised the price target from $285 to $315.</p>
<p>Over the past 52 weeks, Public Storage has had a total return of 5.09%, the third largest return among self-storage REITs.</p>
<p><strong>Extra Space Storage Inc.</strong> is a Salt Lake City-based self-storage REIT with over 3,500 self-storage properties, comprising 2.5 million units totaling 280 million square feet across 43 states and Washington, D.C. It has a market cap of $32.72 billion.</p>
<p>In July 2023, Extra Space Storage and Life Storage Inc. completed a merger in an all-stock transaction that added 1,200 properties to Extra Space's total portfolio, making it the largest self-storage company in the United States.</p>
<p>On Jan. 11, Goldman Sachs analyst Caitlin Burrows maintained a Buy rating on Extra Space Storage and raised the price target from $149 to $168.</p>
<p>Extra Space Storage pays a quarterly dividend of $1.62. The annual dividend of $6.48 presently yields 4.36%.</p>
<p>Despite being the largest self-storage REIT, over the past 52 weeks Extra Space Storage only returned 2.57%, the fourth-best total among the self-storage REITs.</p>

<p>Illicit weed is being moved around the country in rented, neatly-packed U-Haul trucks, until the K-9s get a sniff and blow their cover.</p>
<p>Los Angeles authorities are investigating a bizarre crash involving a rented U-Haul truck that slammed into the gates of the police and fire station Thursday night.</p>
<p>When first responders arrived on the scene, they found two passengers who had rented the&nbsp;truck, one who&#39;d been shot in the arm. They also found several cardboard boxes filled with vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana.</p>
<p>Investigators are trying to determine how the shooting happened, authorities said.</p>
<p>At one point during the night, police say the&nbsp;driver who rented the U-Haul&nbsp;sideswiped a BMW but did not stop.</p>
<p>Both people in the weed-bearing truck were immediately arrested for possession of narcotics, according to a local <a href="https://abc7.com/sierra-madre-u-haul-truck-marijuana-shooting-investigation/13980036/">ABC</a> channel. The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment Friday morning.</p>
<p><strong>Not The First Time U-Haul Was Caught Hauling</strong><strong> Weed</strong></p>
<p>In January 2023, police pulled over a rented U-Haul truck that was driving erratically in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Texas police&#39;s <strong>K-9 Benni</strong> and his handler happened to be in the vicinity and soon arrived on the scene, <a href="https://www.wfaa.com/article/news/local/wise-county-drug-bust-k9-benni-highway-287/287-a867007a-542e-4a42-bc97-19e57ade091f">reported</a> WFFA.com. Benni sniffed out nearly 840 pounds of vacuum-sealed cannabis, 242 pounds of edibles infused with magic mushrooms and 1,100 THC vape cartridges neatly packed into 31 mailing boxes. Wise County Sheriff <strong>Lane Akin</strong> said the total bust was worth $1.7 million.</p>
<p><strong>Ohio Holds The Record</strong></p>
<p>Two of the largest U-Haul hauls, so far, have occurred in Ohio. In 2014, troopers in Preble County seized 2,330 pounds of weed, worth more than $12 million, packed in a rented, brand new Ford U-Haul with Arizona plates.</p>
<p>&ldquo;It was literally a ton,&rdquo; patrol spokesman Lt. Jon Payer <a href="https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/crime/2014/06/16/state-troopers-seize-116-million-worth-of-pot-in-preble-co/10573179/">said</a> at the time.</p>
<p>The largest seizure, so far, occurred in 2005 when troopers seized 3,181 pounds of marijuana, also in Preble County, which is about an hour northwest of Downtown Cincinnati.</p>

<p>U-Haul&#xAE; has acquired the Simply&nbsp;Stor-it facility at 1801 N. Main St. to better meet the moving and self-storage demands of its Mitchell customers.</p>
<p>U-Haul Moving &amp; Storage of Mitchell began serving customers on Sept. 11 and is offering self-storage with extended-hours access.</p>
<p>The 10.16-acre property is a converted regional mall with 25,995 square feet of traditional indoor climate-controlled units; 8,800 square feet of interior drive-up climate-controlled units; and 48 indoor parking spots. There are 329 self-storage rooms on site.</p>
<p>"This is the only climate-controlled self-storage facility in Mitchell," said U-Haul Company of Fargo president Shawn Odden, whose territory includes eastern South Dakota. "Our customers can rest easy knowing their belongings are being stored in a controlled environment backed by the trusted U-Haul brand."</p>

<p>"This is the first U-Haul-operated facility in Mitchell, and we're thrilled to be a business owner in this community," Odden said. "This location was previously a self-storage center and certified U-Haul neighborhood dealer, so our customers already know where to find us. We're excited to have our much-needed DIY moving products and services in the heart of Mitchell."</p>
<p>As part of the change in ownership, U-Haul rehired general manager Tom Kulm to the same position.</p>
<p>"I'm excited for this location to gain all the conveniences that come along with the U-Haul name," said Kulm. "U-Haul is pushing for newer and better technology, and having a convenient mobile app is going to be great for our customers."</p>

U-Haul Acquires Storage Business On Main Street In Mitchell; No Financial Terms Disclosed

<p>Friday marks the last chance for investors to receive the next  dividend payout from <strong>U-Haul Holding</strong> (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UHAL#NYSE">UHAL</a>). </p>
<h3>What's Happening</h3>
<p>The company announced on Thursday that it would pay shareholders a quarterly dividend of 4 cents per share. On Monday, U-Haul Holding will go ex-dividend, meaning the stock will trade lower to reflect that payout. In other words, the stock will likely open 4 cents lower than it would have opened on any other day.</p>
<p>In order to be eligible to receive a company's dividend, shareholders must own the stock prior to the ex-dividend date—in this case, Monday. Shareholders who own UHAL as of the end of Friday's session are eligible to receive the 4 cents dividend payout for every share that they own. </p>
<p>According to the company, this dividend will be paid out to shareholders on September 29, 2023. Investors will then be able to either reinvest those dividends back into the stock or use the payment in some other way. </p>

<p>While not as beloved as some top blue-chip <a href="https://investorplace.com/industries/technology/">tech stocks</a> like, arguably, <strong>Nvidia</strong> (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/nvda-stock-quote/"><strong>NVDA</strong></a>), TSMC is well-loved by industry insiders <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/e9be182f-ec9e-4426-9cd2-d5181fd64778">and analysts</a> for its chip manufacturing innovation. The company is integral to the functionality of innumerable modern electronic devices and maintains its position as a leading supplier to the US, <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/12/26/business/samsung-delays-chip-production-as-biden-slow-to-hand-out-chips-funds/">despite efforts</a> to bolster American semiconductor production.</p>



<p>TSMC benefits from sovereign investment, such as <a href="https://investorplace.com/2023/11/japans-favorite-ai-stocks-3-companies-the-country-loves/">Japan&rsquo;s allocation</a> of a portion of its $10 billion aid package to the company, part of a broader initiative to foster regional semiconductor development. The company&rsquo;s <a href="https://www.morningstar.com/stocks/xnys/tsm/valuation">financial health</a> is robust, affirming its blue-chip stock status, characterized by minimal debt and an impressive 40% net margin. TSMC&rsquo;s fiscal discipline has ensured its stability amidst the fluctuations other stocks face throughout emerging markets, underscoring its potential for extraordinary growth and long-term opportunity.</p>



<h2>News Corp (NWSA)</h2>

But, as American media consumption <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2023/11/28/audiences-are-declining-for-traditional-news-media-in-the-us-with-some-exceptions/">shifts towards</a> next-generation formats, NWSA stands out for its successful pivot toward those emergent trends.</p>



<p>The push for NWSA&rsquo;s evolution partly comes from <strong>Starboard Value</strong>, an activist investor firm that <a href="https://www.wsj.com/business/deals/activist-builds-news-corp-stake-plans-to-seek-changes-c45896da">recently acquired</a> a significant stake in the company. Following the investment, NWSA&rsquo;s qu<a href="https://investors.newscorp.com/news-releases/news-release-details/news-corporation-reports-second-quarter-results-fiscal-2024">arterly revenue</a> jumped 3% year-over-year, alongside a 94% net income boost. CEO Robert Thomson credits these financial improvements to the company&rsquo;s strategic move towards digital and subscription revenues, moving away from the unpredictability of advertising revenues.</p>



<p>This approach mirrors the strategy of many software-based blue-chip stocks, which prioritize recurring revenue streams over sporadic, larger payments. For example, NWSA is allocating effort toward digital subscription acquisition instead of high-budget advertising accounts, similar to how <strong>Adobe</strong> (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/adbe-stock-quote/"><strong>ADBE</strong></a>) offers Photoshop subscriptions for a monthly fee rather than a hefty one-time purchase.</p>



<p>This strategic shift is proving fruitful as NWSA also zeroes in on niche markets, notably its Dow Jones segment and <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/media-telecom/news-corp-beats-quarterly-revenue-estimates-2024-02-07/">digital real estate services</a>, showcasing strong performance. While NWSA currently de-emphasizes dividends to streamline its operations for the digital age, it still maintains a <a href="https://www.morningstar.com/stocks/xnas/nwsa/dividends">modest 1.55% total yield</a>, balancing operational adjustments with shareholder returns.</p>



<h2><strong>Marriott International (MAR)</strong></h2>

The stock had a remarkable reversal post-pandemic, but the momentum is only starting to accelerate when you look at the bigger picture.</p>



<p>The hotel giant commands a significant lead globally, holding <a href="https://csimarket.com/stocks/competitionSEG2.php?code=MAR">17.77% of the international hotel sector</a>, with its closest competitor, <strong>MGM Resorts International</strong> (NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/mgm-stock-quote/"><strong>MGM</strong></a>), trailing at 12.11%.</p>



<p>Marriott is now targeting an <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/carolinetell/2024/03/05/in-its-40th-year-courtyard-by-marriott-mixes-business-with-pleasure/?sh=13d39776b782">up-and-coming customer base</a> to diversify revenue away from pure vacationers and business travel by adapting offerings to appeal to remote and hybrid workers who desire both adventure and the comfort and amenities essential to digital nomads. Marriott is broadening its Courtyard brand to cater to this demographic, including new locations such as Bali and resort destinations, while enhancing existing properties with amenities like adding a lazy river to a Courtyard property in Tennessee.</p>



<p>Looking ahead, Marriott is poised for substantial growth as it continues to extend its global presence and capitalizes on the full return of post-pandemic travel. For value investors, Marriott is a hot stock with a <a href="https://www.morningstar.com/stocks/xnas/mar/dividends">6.33% total yield</a>, affirming the blue-chip stock&rsquo;s commitment to growth while ensuring shareholder value.</p>

<p>Transportation stocks may not be the flashiest investment, but in today&rsquo;s economy, they tend to be stabler and more reliable than high-flying <a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-types/growth-stocks/">growth stocks</a>. Still, pinning down top transportation stocks to buy is tricky. Err on the side of caution, and your investment may flatline indefinitely; swing the other direction, and your capital could crash faster than a car hitting a massive pothole.</p>



<p>Generally, I&rsquo;d recommend against highly regulated transportation stock sectors like airlines and rail companies. They operate nearly as much as a state apparatus as they do a private company in many cases but blend the worst of both worlds, such as limited competitive landscapes coupled with corporate malfeasance or <a href="https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25677848">mismanagement</a>.</p>



<p>These transportation stocks to buy now are a mix of speculative and stable. Each offers a unique slice of the wider transportation sector and, blended together, represents significant upside potential buffered by longevity and relative safety.</p>



<h2><strong>ChargePoint Holdings (CHPT)</strong></h2>

The company and its shareholders faced significant challenges in 2023, with continued bearish sentiment keeping per-share pricing in penny stock territory. Critics point to slowing <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/24/01/36552109/tesla-dominates-ev-charging-race-installing-6-000-fast-chargers-in-2023-chargepoint-and-evgo-str">installation rates</a>, liquidity concerns and difficulties competing with <strong>Tesla&rsquo;s</strong> (NASDAQ:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/tsla-stock-quote/"><strong>TSLA</strong></a></span>) extensive charging network &mdash; each point is well-founded. However, shifting economic conditions, including anticipated interest rate cuts, could provide the momentum needed for a rebound.</p>



<p>ChargePoint CEO Rick Wilmer has described recent quarters as a &ldquo;wait and see&rdquo; phase rather than a steep operational decline. Looking forward to 2024, he <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-01-08/ev-charging-firms-to-struggle-with-finances-investment-in-2024">stated</a>, &ldquo;It&rsquo;s getting better, as we&rsquo;re getting more and more data around the economy, and it appears we&rsquo;re heading for a soft landing.&rdquo;</p>



<p>Competing in the electric charger installation market, particularly against giants like Tesla, which can subsidize costs through car sales, is costly. Still, a <a href="https://www.marketwatch.com/guides/insurance-services/electric-vehicle-statistics-2024/">resurgence in EV sales</a> and potential rate cuts could create new liquidity opportunities for ChargePoint and energize the transportation stock&rsquo;s prospects.</p>



<h2>U-Haul (UHAL)</h2>

Chances are, you&rsquo;ll notice an abundance of <strong>U-Haul</strong>&nbsp;(NYSE:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/uhal-stock-quote/"><strong>UHAL</strong></a></span>) rentals compared to competitors, making it a top transportation stock among non-freight residential goods movement.</p>



<p>Despite its dominance, U-Haul often escapes the attention of investors, even those searching for transportation stocks to buy now. Andrew Bary from Barron&rsquo;s <a href="https://www.barrons.com/articles/uhaul-stock-uhal-30476fc4">points out</a>, &ldquo;There is virtually no Wall Street coverage of U-Haul. It is run like a private company by the Shoen family, which owns about half the company.&rdquo;</p>



<p>Despite high rates, <a href="https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/HOUST">housing activity</a> is still rising, which could directly benefit U-Haul as more people choose cost-effective DIY moving options. Recent statistics indicate that only <a href="https://moversdev.com/key-moving-industry-statistics-for-2023/#">22% of movers</a> use a moving company, while 37.5% rent a truck and move themselves. With household budgets still tight, interest rate uncertainty alongside an increase in residential relocations would likely boost the preference for DIY moving, highlighting U-Haul&rsquo;s strategic advantage in the market.</p>



<h2>Brookfield Infrastructure Partners (BIP)</h2>

<p>Brookfield is just one of many companies facing challenges as interest rates remain higher for longer; global infrastructure is capital-intensive, and higher rates make funding tough. But these challenges don&rsquo;t dampen the stock&rsquo;s long-term potential. The company&rsquo;s management has skillfully navigated tough economic conditions, opting to <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/news/brookfield-infrastructure-partners-bip-divests-120400935.html">divest less profitable segments</a> to concentrate on key growth areas. Additionally, the company plans to divest <a href="https://bip.brookfield.com/bip/reports-filings/letters-unitholders/bip-q4-2023-letter-unitholders">another $2 billion</a> in assets this year, creating a substantial cash reserve poised for acquisitions as smaller companies become distressed and easier to acquire.</p>



<p>Today, Brookfield offers a <a href="https://www.nasdaq.com/market-activity/stocks/bip/dividend-history">6.5% dividend yield</a> and has a history of <a href="https://bip.brookfield.com/press-releases/bip/brookfield-infrastructure-announces-automatic-purchase-plans-2">share buybacks</a>, making it a solid income opportunity bundled with global transportation stock upside.</p>
