US Stock Futures Indicate Brighter Opening Today

US stock futures moved up today ahead of the series of economic reports scheduled for the day. While futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 46 points to 10645 a couple of hours before the start of trading, those on the S&P 500 moved up 5.9 points to 1140.4. Meanwhile, Nasdaq 100 futures rose 10.75 points to 1924.25. Traders are awaiting the release of data on inflation and housing starts, apart from key earnings results by a few companies. Producer prices data for April is also scheduled for today. Meanwhile, data from the UK reflected a faster-than-forecasted rise in consumer-price index and a 1.5% increase in the Eurozone inflation. Some stocks that may be in focus today are Home Depot HD, Wal-Mart Stores WMT, Boeing BA and Google GOOG. While HD moved up 0.73% in pre-market trading on better-than-expected earnings, WMT added 1.69% on 10% profit growth. BA climbed 2.2% in pre market after announcing a hike in price for its 737 jets late yesterday, while GOOG advanced on acquiring Global IP Solutions, a Norwegian IP services firm, for $68 million. Overseas, the Stoxx Europe 600 added 0.6% in late morning trade, while the Shanghai Composite rose 2% after getting a pounding on Monday. Read more from Benzinga's Markets.
