US Stock Futures Down, Fed In Focus

US stock futures are lower this morning, as investors are awaiting the latest interest-rate decision from the Federal Reserve. The Greek government won a key confidence vote late Tuesday. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 24 points to 12,064.00 and futures on the S&P 500 stock index fell 3.70 points to 1,284.20. Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 7.25 points to 2,236.75. US stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones industrial average gaining 0.91% to 12,190.01, the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index rising 1.34% to 1,295.52 and the NASDAQ composite index surging 2.19% to 2,687.26. The US Federal Reserve's decision on interest rates is due at 1630 GMT. Dentsply International Inc XRAY agreed to purchase AstraZeneca PLC's AZN Astra Tech dental and health-care division for about $1.8 billion in cash. Paychex Inc PAYX is projected to report its FQ4 earnings at $0.33 per share on revenue of $515.91 million. FedEx Corp FDX is estimated to post its FQ4 earnings at $1.72 per share on revenue of $10.42 billion. Red Hat Inc RHT is estimated to post its Q1 EPS at $0.22 on revenue of $253.58 million. Bed Bath & Beyond Inc BBBY is projected to post its Q1 earnings at $0.63 per share on revenue of $2.08 billion. HB Fuller Company FUL is projected to post its Q2 EPS at $0.46 on revenue of $383.24 million. CarMax Inc KMX is projected to report its Q1 EPS at $0.47 on revenue of $2.53 billion. Adobe Systems Inc ADBE posted a 54% surge in its quarterly profit. Adobe reported its FQ2 net income at $229.4 million, or $0.45 per share, up from $148.6 million, or $0.28 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue climbed to $1 billion from $943 million. Excluding one-time items, Adobe's earnings came in at $0.55 per share. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.51 per share on revenue of $996.1 million. Adobe projects Q3 earnings, excluding items, between $0.50 and $0.56 per share, and revenue between $1 billion and $1.05 billion. Analysts expected Q3 earnings of $0.54 per share on revenue of $1.02 billion. Jabil Circuit Inc JBL reported its FQ3 profit at $104.7 million, or $0.47 per share, up from $52 million, or $0.24 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue surged to $4.2 billion from $3.5 billion. Excluding one-time items, Jabil's earnings came in at $129.1 million, or $0.58 per share. Analysts were projecting earnings of $0.57 per share on revenue of $4.15 billion. Most Asian markets ended higher, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rising 1.7866%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving up 0.56% and China's Shanghai Composite surging 0.09%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 0.0429% and India's Sensex dropped 0.07%. European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index has dropped 0.52%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved down 0.18%, German DAX 30 index fell 0.05% and France CAC 40 index fell 0.4%. The dollar index (DXY) gained 0.10% to 74.72. Light crude for August delivery fell $0.42 to $93.75 a barrel in electronic trading, while the August gold contract dropped $1.20 to $1,545.20 an ounce.
