Some of the stocks that may grab investor focus today are: Oracle Corp ORCL posted better-than-expected quarterly profit. Oracle reported its FQ4 net income at $3.2 billion, or $0.62 per share, up from $2.4 billion, or $0.46 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue surged to $10.8 billion. Excluding one-time items, Oracle's earnings for the quarter came in at $0.75 per share. Analysts were expecting earnings of $0.71 per share on revenue of $10.8 billion. Oracle projects Q1 earnings, excluding items, between $0.45 and $0.48 per share, versus analysts' estimates of $0.46 per share. ORCL shares dipped 4.40% to $31.03 in after-hours trading. Williams Companies Inc WMB offered $4.9 billion in cash for Southern Union SUG, topping a $4.1 billion stock deal with Energy Transfer Equity LP ETE. Williams offered to buy Southern Union for $39 per share, representing an 18% premium over Energy Transfer bid of $33 per share. SUG shares surged 14.79% to $39.20 in after-hours trading, WMB shares lost 1.92% to $28.67 in after-hours trading and ETE shares dropped 3.75% to $43.86 in the after-hours trading session. Micron Technology Inc MU reported downbeat quarterly earnings and revenue. MU reported its FQ3 profit at $75 million, or $0.07 per share, compared with $939 million, or $1.06 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue dropped to $2.14 billion, from $2.26 billion. Analysts were expecting earnings of $0.16 per share on revenue of $2.37 billion. MU shares dipped 12.93% to $7.34 in after-hours trading. Private equity firm Providence Equity Partners is in exclusive talks to purchase Blackboard Inc BBBB, according to The Wall Street Journal. BBBB shares gained 1.62% to close at $40.77 yesterday. Finish Line Inc FINL reported a 20% rise in its FQ1 earnings. The company's earnings came in at $16.4 million, or $0.30 per share, up from $13.6 million, or $0.25 per share, in the year-earlier period. Its revenue climbed 6% to $299 million from $282 million. Analysts were expecting earnings of $0.30 per share on revenue of $301.4 million. Its revenue at stores open at least a year surged 6.1% for the quarter.
