US Stock Futures Up; All Eyes On Greek Vote, Home Sales Data

US stock futures are higher this morning, as investors are awaiting results from General Mills GIS and home-sales data. The Greek parliament is scheduled to vote on the austerity measures. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 19 points to 12,160.00 and futures on the S&P 500 stock index rose 2.90 points to 1,297.40. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 5.25 points to 2,289.25. US stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones industrial average gaining 1.21% to 12,188.69, the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index rising 1.29% to 1,296.67 and the NASDAQ composite index surging 1.53% to 2,729.31. Data on pending home sales for May will be released at 10 a.m. ET. Family Dollar Stores Inc FDO is projected to post its Q3 earnings at $0.95 per share on revenue of $2.17 billion. Acuity Brands Inc AYI is estimated to report its Q3 EPS at $0.63 on revenue of $447.59 million. General Mills is expected to report its Q4 EPS at $0.52 on revenue of $3.68 billion. Monsanto Co MON is estimated to report its Q3 EPS at $1.11 on revenue of $3.38 billion. Shaw Communications Inc SJR is expected to report its Q3 EPS at $0.41 on revenue of $1.28 billion. Dell Inc DELL announced its plans to repurchase more than $2 billion in stock during the current fiscal year. The company has already repurchased $1.6 billion of its common stock in the current fiscal year. Sealy Corp ZZ reported upbeat second-quarter profit. Sealy reported its quarterly net income from continuing operations at $0.8 million, or $0.01 per share, versus $3.7 million, or $0.03 per share, in the year-ago period. Its net sales surged 11% to $321.3 million. Analysts were expecting earnings of $0.00 per share on revenue of $294.82 million. Most Asian markets ended higher, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average gaining 1.4727%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving up 1.25% and China's Shanghai Composite dropping 1.11%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 0.0027% and India's Sensex jumped 1.09%. European markets were higher today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index has gained 1.20%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved up 1.12%, German DAX 30 index rose 1.21% and France CAC 40 index surged 1.15%. Crude-oil futures gained $0.62 to $93.51 a barrel. However, gold futures surged $7.70 to $1,507.90 an ounce. The dollar index (DXY) dropped 0.1% to 74.942.
