Lennar LEN reported a rise in its second-quarter profit. Its new orders also surged 40%. Lennar's quarterly net income surged to $452.7 million, or $2.06 per share, versus $13.8 million, or $0.07 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue gained 22% to $930.2 million.
Monsanto Co MON posted better-than-expected third-quarter profit. Monsanto's quarterly earnings climbed to $937 million, or $1.74 per share, up from $692 million, or $1.28 per share, in the year-earlier period. Its revenue surged 17% to $4.22 billion, versus analysts' estimates of $3.97 billion. Monsanto's adjusted profit came in at $1.63 per share, versus analysts' estimates of $1.55 per share.
General Mills GIS reported a 1.6% rise in its fourth-quarter profit. General Mills' quarterly profit rose to $325.4 million, or $0.49 per share, versus $320.2 million, or $0.48 per share, in the year-earlier period. Excluding one-time items, the company's adjusted profit came in at $0.60 per share. Its sales surged 12% to $4.1 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.59 per share on sales of $4.1 billion.
McCormick & Co MKC reported a rise in its second-quarter earnings. McCormick's quarterly earnings surged to $80.4 million, or $0.60 per share, versus $73.6 million, or $0.55 per share, in the year-earlier period. Its sales rose to $984 million from $883.7 million. Analysts were expecting earnings of $0.60 per share on sales of $966.3 million.
Lindsay LNN reported a 23% rise in its fiscal third-quarter earnings. Lindsay's quarterly profit surged to $18.8 million, or $1.47 per share, versus a year-ago profit of $15.3 million, or $1.20 per share. Its revenue gained 12% to $172.1 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.36 per share on revenue of $166 million. Lindsay's gross margin rose to 28.5% from 27%.
Commercial Metals Co CMC reported a 12% rise in its third-quarter earnings. Commercial Metals reported its quarterly profit at $40.7 million, or $0.35 per share, versus a year-ago profit of $36.2 million, or $0.31 per share. Its earnings from continuing operations came in at $0.34 per share. Its net sales fell 2.7% to $2 billion. However, analysts were expecting a profit of $0.37 per share on revenue of $2.14 billion.
