Author Lucas Strazzeri recently released a new book, "Afghanistan, Fortress of Cannabis."
With rare images, Strazzeri takes us on a journey through the history of cannabis, shining a light on the influence of Afghan rituals, legends and practices on the current global cannabis culture. The author also warns about the ecological and cultural consequences of modern cannabis hybrids while paying tribute to centuries-old Afghan traditions.
"Afghanistan, Fortress of Cannabis" is an affordable collector’s book for those interested in Afghanistan, cannabis, or the ecological consequences of the growing Western cannabis industry.
With 130 photographs and 10,000 words, non-specialists will be able to understand key historical facts about cannabis and hashish. It also gives connoisseurs some lexical precision on common words currently used in popular cannabis culture and an exclusive insight into Afghan cannabis traditions. This book also aims to spread knowledge and warn about the loss of traditional cannabis plants, since cannabis seeds are being traded worldwide through the Internet.
Readers will find two interviews and their original audio recordings, available via QR codes. The book also comes with over 30 bibliographical references for readers who wish to learn more about these topics, which are often associated with false information in the media.
"Now, let’s look at Afghanistan’s location and history, its spiritual traditions and interactions with the world, to discover how it has shaped the evolution and the consumption of cannabis up to the 21st century," says Strazzeri.
