Benzinga’s Top Pre-Market Gainers (EVVV, OREX, ARMH, SHPGY, GOLD)

ev3 Inc EVVV soared 18.02% to $22.33 in the pre-market session. The vascular-treatment company EVVV is going to be acquired by Covidien PLC COV for $2.6 billion in cash. Orexigen Therapeutics Inc OREX added 6.07% to $5.77 in pre-market trading. OREX has received approval from the FDA for filing the New Drug Application (NDA) for Contrave®, its investigational drug for the treatment of obesity. ARM Holdings plc ARMH climbed 1.12% to $10.86 in the pre-market session. ARMH’s March quarter earnings were 75% higher than anticipated. Shire plc SHPGY moved up 0.96% to $61.80 in pre-market trading. SHPGY posted higher-than-expected earnings for the March quarter. Randgold Resources Ltd GOLD gained 0.93% to $88.26 in the pre-market session. Randgold announced that it expects to exceed last year’s total production of gold this year and will start producing 1.2 million ounces of the yellow metal by the end of 2014.
