Grammy-winning musician and producer Wyclef Jean spoke to journalist Javier Hasse for Forbes about his cannabis use, its relationship to hip-hop culture and his involvement in the cannabis industry.
Cannabis: A Journey to Creativity, Focus And Advocacy
Jean started using cannabis as an alternative to pharmaceuticals but also finds it helps him focus by calming his racing thoughts.
Beyond enjoyment and medication, he also uses cannabis for creative purposes, finding that it allows him to harness his creativity more effectively.
Jean partnered with the cannabis lifestyle brand Cali Life to create his BOOM BAP cannabis collection and has also worked with Mr. Birdsall's Wonder Elixirs.
He emphasizes the importance of inclusion and ensuring that those who spent time in jail or prison for cannabis have a seat at the table in the growing market.
The Future of Cannabis: Safe Access, Quality Control
Jean is a proponent of federal cannabis legalization, citing safe access, quality control and lab testing as potential benefits.
He also believes in the therapeutic potential of psychedelics, particularly micro-dosing, for conditions like depression, PTSD and addiction.
Looking forward, Jean told Hasse that has big plans for involvement in the cannabis industry, with a new product line set to launch in the coming months.
