Isiah Thomas' Cannabis Co. One World Products Appoints Joerg Sommer As President

One World Products OWPC, the largest Black-controlled, fully-licensed hemp and cannabis producer in Colombia, has announced the appointment of Joerg Sommer as its new president. An automotive industry veteran with over 20 years of experience, Sommer has made a name for himself as one of the most multifaceted C-level executives in the electric vehicle space, championing the cause of electric mobility long before it gained mainstream attention.

Sommer’s rich professional experience spans across multiple continents, having lived in cities like Tokyo, Paris, and various parts of the United States. Now, splitting his time between Los Angeles and Germany, the Berlin-born executive is all set to lead the team at One World Products.

One World Products CEO and chairman Isiah Thomas expressed his excitement over Sommer’s appointment. “We are extremely fortunate to have attracted the talents of Mr. Joerg Sommer, as he has successfully taken multiple start-ups to and through their next level of growth by accelerating their revenue. The timing could not be more ideal - we are in the final stages of integrating and readying our state-of-the-art distillation system, as we prepare our extraction and production facility to be operational before the end of the third quarter of 2023. Sommer acknowledged the remarkable work done by the team in creating a solid platform for success, adding he's eager to start capitalizing on the numerous partnership and sales opportunities that have been identified and initiated, and is committed to driving the company toward commercialization and accelerating revenue growth.

Sommer brings with him a wealth of experience from his past roles at various disruptive California-based startups and global automotive OEMs. He has spent over a decade building electric mobility ecosystems in North America, Europe, and Asia, leaving a significant imprint on the industry and contributing to a reduced carbon footprint. Notably, Sommer served as the CEO of Street Scooter, a manufacturer of electric delivery trucks, furthering the cause of sustainable last-mile delivery solutions.

In addition to his new role, Sommer continues to serve as the managing partner of Peach Ventures, a Berlin-based early-stage energy and mobility venture fund that invests in European and US tech startups. An alumnus of the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Technical University of Berlin, Sommer is recognized for his skill in building winning teams and establishing fruitful relationships with investors.
