RFK Jr. Pledges To Decriminalize Cannabis On Federal Basis, Tax-Funded Recovery Centers

U.S. presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been discussing cannabis legalization on the campaign trail.

"I would decriminalize marijuana on a federal basis and allow the states to regulate it. I would impose a federal tax on it. The revenue generated from this tax would be used to build rehabilitation centers across the country and provide drug rehabilitation programs,” Kennedy told ReasonTV on Thursday.

On Wednesday, during a town hall event with NewsNation, Kennedy discussed his personal experiences with addiction and the lessons he has learned from his own recovery, reported Marijuana Moment.

He proposed decriminalizing marijuana on a federal level, allowing states to regulate it, and using federal taxes to fund recovery programs.

Kennedy envisions a tax-funded recovery program that incorporates an agriculturally centered approach, involving activities like gardening, forestry, and animal care.

“That’s what we need to build here,” he said. “What I would do as president is I would decriminalize marijuana. I will make safe banking laws for people who are selling it, I will tax it federally and I will use that money to build these healing centers in rural areas—depressed rural areas—all over the country, where kids can grow organic food and eat well and heal themselves spiritually, physically and emotionally.”

And… What about psychedelics?

“Well, definitely decriminalize psychedelics,” Kennedy said.
