Microsoft Corporation MSFT anticipate significant growth in the gaming industry, particularly in the areas of mobile gaming and advertising.

That's according to a leaked 2022 presentation, which was disclosed as part of the Redmond, Washington-based company's legal battle with the Federal Trade Commission over the Activision Blizzard Inc ATVI acquisition.

The presentation, CNBC reported, suggested that Activision would play a crucial role in achieving the projected revenue growth, as the company owns King Digital Entertainment, known for the "Candy Crush" mobile game franchise.

Moreover, the presentation estimated gaming revenue would double to $36 billion by the fiscal year 2030, with a significant focus on advertising and mobile transactions.

Microsoft expected its advertising revenue to grow from $100 million in fiscal 2022 to $1.4 billion in fiscal 2030, while revenue from mobile transactions was predicted to reach $2.6 billion, compared to none in fiscal 2022.

Together, these two categories were projected to contribute $4 billion, or 11% of total gaming revenue.

Microsoft is working towards closing the Activision transaction by Oct. 18, with plans that include divesting cloud streaming rights to Activision games to Ubisoft, subject to approval by the United Kingdom's Competition and Markets Authority.
