Brothers Logan Paul and Jake Paul are best known as content creators and boxers. The two could soon add the title of political memorabilia collectors to their title thanks to the 2024 presidential election.
What Happened: The Paul brothers have proposed paying $12 million for the "Make America Great Again" red hat worn by former President Donald Trump on July 13, the day of an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.
During an episode of the "Impaulsive" podcast, the Paul brothers discussed paying various amounts for the hat, before getting to a high offer of $12 million, according to a report from Cllct.
Since the assassination attempt, merchandise related to Trump's fist raise to the crowd and photographs of his bloody ear have been hot sellers, including "Fight! Fight! Fight!" shoes sold by Trump-owned GetTrumpSneakers.com.
Why It's Important: According to Cllct, the record amount paid for a baseball hat is $590,994, set in 2017. That was the sum paid for a Brooklyn Dodgers hat lined with a metal plate to protect Jackie Robinson from being thrown at.
The Guinness World Record for a hat sold at auction is 1,932,000 euros, or $2.1 million, for a black felt bicorn hat previously owned by French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. The auction was completed in 2023.
Logan Paul paid $5.3 million for a PSA 10 Pikachu Illustrator card in 2022, the most paid for a Pokemon card according to the report.
