Nokia Siemens NOK SI, the telecom venture jointly owned by the Finnish handset maker and the German technology giant, is reportedly seeking a $1 billion cash injection after acquiring Motorola's MOT telecom equipment unit for $1.2 billion.
Potential investors include Silver Lake Partners, TPG,Blackstone, Bain Capital and KKR, according to the Wall Street Journal. The deal could be muddled by the fact that Nokia and Siemens both own part of the venture.
The $1 billion investment would land the investor or investors a minority stake in Nokia Siemens, which specializes in making telecom gear.
