Anglo-Dutch consumer products giant Unilever Plc UN is reportedly close to acquiring Alberto-Culver ACV, the consumer products company that is behind such popular brands as Noxzema, St. Ives and Static Gard.
Illinois-based Alberto-Culver had a market value of $3.11 billion as of Friday's close. While exact terms of the deal are not yet known, with a typical takeover premium of 20% to 30%, it would fetch as much as $4 billion, according to the Wall Street Journal.
