Four ETFs For St. Patrick's Day

It's here. Everyone's favorite sort of holiday. No, St. Patrick's doesn't give us a day off and the stock market isn't closed, but it is a pretty big deal, particularly if you live in Boston or New York.

Not to be smug, but the Irish need a reason to celebrate this year. On the economic front, things have been pretty tough for the Emerald Isle. One might say almost as gloomy as some Dylan Thomas prose, but in the spirit of the holiday here's our list of ETFs for St. Patrick's Day.

1) iShares MSCI Ireland Capped Investable Market Index Fund EIRL:
The first Ireland-specific ETF, EIRL has been slammed to the tune of 8% in the past week, but amazingly, this ETF is up almost 2.7% in the past six months.

2) FaithShares Catholic Values ETF FCV:
Believe it or not, the FaithShares ETFs are still around despite a severe lack of volume. FCV makes the list because of Ireland's predominantly Catholic population. Be careful, FCV trades less than 1,000 shares a day and has an expense ratio of 0.87%.

3) Europe 2001 HOLDRs EKH:
Talk about weak volume, EKH trades just over 100 shares a day, but makes the list because of a weight of almost 9% to Ireland.

4) PowerShares Dynamic Food & Beverage ETF PBJ:
Why not play a little defense with this consumer staples ETF? Plus, most folks enjoy a beverage or two on St. Patrick's Day and PBJ obliges with exposure to Boston Beer SAM, Brown-Forman BF and Constellation Brands STZ.
