US Stock Futures Signal Lower Start On Wall Street; IBM Earnings In Focus

US stock futures are lower this morning, as investors are awaiting quarterly earnings from International Business Machines Corp IBM. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 67 points to 12,385.00 and futures on the S&P 500 stock index fell 7.10 points to 1,307.40. Nasdaq 100 futures dipped 15.00 points to 2,340.50. US stocks closed higher on Friday, with the Dow Jones industrial average gaining 0.34% to 12,479.73, the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index rising 0.56% to 1,316.14 and the NASDAQ composite index surging 0.98% to 2,789.80. International Business Machines Corp is projected to report its Q2 EPS at $3.03 on revenue of $25.35 billion. Gannett Co Inc GCI is projected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.57 on revenue of $1.33 billion. Halliburton Company HAL is estimated to report its Q2 EPS at $0.73 on revenue of $5.69 billion. Charles Schwab Corporation (The) SCHW is estimated to report its Q2 EPS at $0.20 on revenue of $1.20 billion. Wynn Resorts Limited WYNN is expected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.99 on revenue of $1.26 billion. Asian markets ended lower, with Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving down 0.06% and China's Shanghai Composite dropping 0.12%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 0.3229% and India's Sensex declined 0.41%. European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index has dipped 0.70%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved down 0.80%, German DAX 30 index fell 1.01% and France CAC 40 index fell 1.14%. The dollar index (DXY) gained 0.6% to 75.54. The euro fell 0.7% versus the dollar to trade at $1.4053. Crude-oil prices dropped, while gold and silver both moved up. Gold for August delivery surged $9.60 to $1,599.70 an ounce in electronic trading.
