US Stock Futures Signal Lower Start On Wall Street

US stock futures are lower this morning. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 101 points to 12,067.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 12.90 points to 1,268.00. Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 20.75 points to 2,375.75. US stocks closed mostly higher on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average gaining 0.18% to 12,231.11, the S&P 500 index rising 0.04% to 1,285.08 and the Nasdaq 100 index declining 0.05% to 2,737.15. The Chicago-area purchasing managers index for October will be released at 9:45 a.m. ET. The Allstate Corporation ALL is expected to report its Q3 EPS at $0.08 on revenue of $6.74 billion. Shaw Group Inc (The) SHAW is estimated to report its Q4 EPS at $0.58 on revenue of $1.59 billion. Humana Corp HUM is projected to post its Q3 EPS at $2.03 on revenue of $9.27 billion. CNA Financial Corp CNA is projected to report its Q3 earnings at $0.10 per share on sales of $1.79 billion. Winn-Dixie Stores Inc WINN is projected to post a FQ1 loss at $0.42 per share on revenue of $1.60 billion. Cooper Tire & Rubber Company CTB is projected to post its Q3 EPS at $0.32 on revenue of $1 billion. European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index fell 1.29%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved down 1.04%, French CAC 40 index fell 2.06% and German DAX 30 index dipped 1.62%. Asian markets ended lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average dropping 0.6859%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving down 1.15% and China's Shanghai Composite dropping 0.21%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 0.7711% and India's Sensex declined 0.56%. The dollar jumped 2.99% versus the Japanese yen to trade at ¥77.91, versus ¥75.77 in North American activity late Friday. The euro surged 1.95% versus the yen to trade at ¥109.06, compared with ¥107.24 in late North American trade Friday.
