US stock futures are lower this morning, as investors are awaiting earnings from Citigroup C. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 35 points to 12,677.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 3.70 points to 1,348.00. Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 6.75 points to 2,570.25.
US stocks closed higher on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average surging 1.62% to 12,777.09, the S&P 500 index rising 1.65% to 1,356.78 and the Nasdaq 100 index gaining 1.48% to 2,908.47.
Data on June retail-sales will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. However, the New York Federal Reserve's Empire State Index for the month of July will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. Data on May inventories will be released at 10 a.m. ET.
Citigroup C is expected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.89 per share on revenue of $18.76 billion. Packaging Corp. of America PKG is projected to post its Q2 EPS at $0.45 on revenue of $689.39 million.
JB Hunt Transport Services JBHT is projected to post its Q2 earnings at $0.67 per share on revenue of $1.30 billion. Gannett Co GCI is expected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.52 per share on revenue of $1.32 billion.
Cintas CTAS is projected to post its Q4 earnings at $0.60 per share on revenue of $1.07 billion. Lincare Holdings LNCR is estimated to post its Q2 EPS at $0.55 on revenue of $503.38 million.
European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index fell 0.12%, London's FTSE 100 Index dropped 0.25%, French CAC 40 Index declined 0.28% and German DAX 30 index fell 0.27%.
Asian markets ended mixed, with China's Shanghai Composite dropping 1.74% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rising 0.60%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gained 0.15% India's Sensex fell 0.71%.
Nymex crude-oil futures declined $0.34 to $86.76 a barrel in electronic trade, while gold futures fell $7.60 to trade at $1,584.40 an ounce.
The dollar index gained 0.3% to 83.601. The dollar dropped 0.3% against the Japanese yen to trade at ¥79.01.
The euro declined 0.5% against the US dollar to trade at $1.2188.
