US stock futures are higher this morning, as investors are awaiting earnings from Hasbro HAS and Caterpillar CAT. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 47 points to 13,299.00 and S&P 500 index futures rose 6 points to 1,430.00. Nasdaq 100 futures climbed 17.25 points to 2,681.25.
US stocks closed lower on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 1.52% to 13,343.51, the S&P 500 index falling 1.66% to 1,433.19 and the Nasdaq 100 index dipping 2.19% to 3,005.62.
Hasbro is projected to report its Q3 earnings at $1.20 per share on revenue of $1.38 billion. Yahoo! YHOO is expected to post its Q3 earnings at $0.26 per share on revenue of $1.08 billion. Lennox International LII is projected to report its Q3 earnings at $0.94 per share on revenue of $913.26 million.
Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold FCX is estimated to report its Q3 earnings at $0.73 per share on revenue of $4.36 billion. Caterpillar is projected to report its Q3 earnings at $2.23 per share on revenue of $16.79 billion.
Bank of Hawaii BOH is expected to report its Q3 earnings at $0.89 per share on revenue of $143.32 million. Texas Instruments TXN is estimated to post its Q3 EPS at $0.46 on revenue of $3.34 billion. V.F. Corporation VFC is projected to report its Q3 earnings at $3.49 per share on revenue of $3.17 billion.
Edwards Lifesciences EW reported a 35% surge in its third-quarter income and cut its 2012 net income forecast.
European markets were higher today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index surged 0.22%, London's FTSE 100 Index gained 0.20%, French CAC 40 Index climbed 0.22% and German DAX 30 index rose 0.09%.
Asian markets ended mostly higher, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rising 0.09%, China's Shanghai Composite rising 0.21% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 dropping 0.63%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose 0.68% and India's Sensex surged 0.63%.
Crude-oil futures for November delivery gained $0.55 to trade at $90.60 a barrel.
The dollar index (DXY) dropped 0.07% to trade at 79.57, down from 79.629 in North American trade late Friday.
