US Stock Futures Flat Ahead Of Factory-Orders Data

US stock futures are mostly flat this morning, as investors are awaiting factory-orders data. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 3 points to 13,933.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 0.40 points to 1,506.30. Nasdaq 100 futures climbed 1.25 points to 2,757.75. US stocks closed higher on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average gaining 1.08% to 14,009.79, the S&P 500 index rising 1.01% to 1,513.17 and the Nasdaq 100 index climbing 1.18% to 3,179.10. Data on December factory orders will be released at 10 a.m. ET. Humana HUM is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $1.07 per share on revenue of $9.73 billion. Anadarko Petroleum APC is estimated to post its Q4 earnings at $0.72 per share on revenue of $3.38 billion. Yum! Brands YUM is estimated to post its Q4 earnings at $0.82 per share on revenue of $4.12 billion. Sysco SYY is projected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.41 per share on revenue of $10.70 billion. The Clorox Company CLX is estimated to report its Q2 earnings at $0.81 per share on revenue of $1.27 billion. Gilead Sciences GILD is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.48 per share on revenue of $2.43 billion. Gannett Co GCI is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.88 per share on revenue of $1.49 billion. Leggett & Platt LEG is expected to post its Q4 earnings at $0.29 per share on revenue of $872.66 million. Life Technologies LIFE is projected to post its Q4 earnings at $1.11 per share on revenue of $989.50 million. Brown & Brown BRO reported a 16.8% surge in its net income for the fourth quarter. Cowen Group COWN announced its plans to buy privately held investment bank Dahlman Rose & Co. European markets were mostly lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index rose 0.05%, London's FTSE 100 Index dropped 0.32%, German DAX 30 Index fell 0.11% and French CAC 40 Index declined 0.42%. Asian markets ended mixed, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rising 0.62%, China's Shanghai Composite surging 0.38% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 Index dropping 0.26%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index declined 0.16% and India's Sensex dropped 0.15%. Nymex crude-oil futures declined $0.58 to trade at $97.19 a barrel in electronic trade, while gold futures fell $4.90 to $1,664.50 an ounce. The ICE dollar index (DXY) rose 0.23% to trade at 79.39. The euro declined 0.47% against the dollar to trade at $1.3588. The US dollar gained 0.28% against the Japanese yen to ¥93.04.
