US Stock Futures Point To Another Day Of Gains

US stock index futures rose sharply today as strong results by several companies boosted market sentiments. While futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 53 points to 10510, those on the S&P 500 added 6 points to 1115.50. Meanwhile, Nasdaq 100 futures moved up 9.25 points to 1896.70. Chemical firm DuPont DD and European banks such as UBS UBS and Deutsche Bank DB recorded strong quarterly results. DD has also raised its full-year earnings projections to reflect impressive results and the expectations of continued strength in sales. DuPont has risen 4.69% to $40.82 in premarket trading, while UBS’ shares have jumped 7.92% to $16.35. Deutsche Bank has gained 5.32% to $68.70. Other companies that are due to release results today are Aetna Inc AET, Anadarko Petroleum Corp APC, Occidental Petroleum Corp OXY and Lockheed Martin Corp LMT. Traders are expecting the release of the S&P/Case-Shiller home-price index at 9 am EDT. The index is expected to be up 4%, as compared to a 3.8% rise in April. The Conference Board's consumer confidence index for July is also due to release today. The consumer confidence index is likely to have declined to 51.0 from 52.9. Read more from Benzinga's Markets.
