US Stock Futures Up As Investors Await Labor-Market Data, Oil Rises Above $100 Per Barrel

US stock futures are higher this morning, as investors are awaiting labor-market data. Crude oil traded above $100 a barrel. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 27 points to 12,049.00 and futures on the S&P 500 stock index gained 3.6 points to 1,304.70. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 5.75 points to 2,317.25. The blue-chip Dow index dropped 1.38% to close at 12,058 on Tuesday. The ADP employment report for February will be released at 8:15 a.m. ET. Costco Wholesale Corp COST reported its Q2 EPS at $0.79, versus the consensus of $0.79. COST reported its Q2 revenue at $20.88 million, versus the consensus of $20.54 billion. COST reported 7% rise in its Q2 same-store sales. Staples SPLS reported its Q4 adjusted EPS at $0.39, versus the consensus of $0.40. SPLS reported its Q4 revenue at $6.42 billion, versus the consensus of $6.48 billion. McDermott International Inc MDR reported its Q4 earnings from continuing operations at $44.9 million, or $0.19 per share, down from $98.7 million, or $0.43 per share, in the year-earlier period. The company's revenue dropped to $539.6 million from $756.8 million. The Fed's Beige Book will be released at 2 p.m. ET. After the opening bell, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is scheduled to present a monetary-policy report to the US House Financial Services Committee. Negative sentiment ruled the European markets today. While STOXX Europe 600 Index has dropped 0.58%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved down 0.40%. Asian markets ended lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average dropping 2.43%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving down 0.45% and China's Shanghai Composite dropping 0.18%.
