US stock futures are lower this morning, as investors are awaiting employment data. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 46 points to 11,325.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 3.60 points to 1,195.10. Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 7.00 points to 2,202.50.
US stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 4.31% to 11,383.68, the S&P 500 index declining 4.78% to 1,200.07 and the Nasdaq 100 index dipping 5.08% to 2,556.39.
The Labor Department is scheduled to release the July employment data at 8:30 a.m. ET.
Procter & Gamble Company (The) PG is projected to report its FQ4 earnings at 0.82 per share on revenue of $20.63 billion. Weight Watchers International Inc WTW is expected to report its Q2 EPS at $1.12 on revenue of $470.16 million.
The AES Corporation AES is estimated to report its Q2 EPS at $0.27 on revenue of $3.58 billion. Viacom Inc VIA is projected to report its FQ3 EPS at $0.86 on revenue of $3.52 billion. Arch Chemicals Inc ARJ is expected to report its Q2 EPS at $1.82 on revenue of $459.40 million.
Cinemark Holdings Inc CNK is estimated to report its Q2 EPS at $0.39 on revenue of $593.55 million. Washington Post Company (The) WPO is estimated to report its quarterly EPS at $5.87 on revenue of $1.09 billion. Windstream Corporation WIN is estimated to report its Q2 EPS at $0.19 on revenue of $1.02 billion.
Priceline.com PCLN reported its Q2 profit at $256.4 million, or $5.02 per share, up from $115 million, or $2.26 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue surged to $1.1 billion, from $767.4 million. Excluding items, Priceline earnings came in at $5.49 per share. However, analysts were expecting a profit of $4.85 per share on revenue of $1.08 billion.
LinkedIn Corp LNKD reported its Q2 profit at $4.51 million, or $0.04 per share, up from $938,000, or $0.02 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue jumped to $121 million. However, analysts were expecting a loss of $0.04 per share on revenue of $104.5 million.
European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index dropped 1.86%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved down 2.11%, French CAC 40 index fell 1.11% and German DAX 30 index dropped 2.45%.
Asian markets ended lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average dipping 3.7198%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving down 4.21% and China's Shanghai Composite declining 2.15%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 4.2888% and India's Sensex dipped 2.30%.
Nymex crude oil futures dropped 0.38% to $86.30 a barrel in electronic trading. However, gold futures gained$9.60 to trade at $1,668.60 an ounce.
The dollar declined 0.46% against the Japanese yen to trade at ¥78.51. The euro gained 0.41% versus the dollar to trade at $1.4151.
