US Stock Futures Signal Higher Start On Wall Street

US stock futures are higher this morning. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 74 points to 12,841.00 and S&P 500 index futures rose 8.90 points to 1,349.50. Nasdaq 100 futures jumped 16.75 points to 2,565.25. US stocks closed lower on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.69% to 12,801.23, the S&P 500 index declining 0.69% to 1,342.64 and the Nasdaq 100 index dipping 0.80% to 2,903.88. Alexander & Baldwin Inc ALEX is estimated to post its Q4 EPS at $0.25 on revenue of $424.90 million. Diebold Incorporated DBD is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.84 per share on revenue of $837.7 million. Health Management Associates Inc HMA is expected to post its Q4 EPS at $0.20 on revenue of $1.58 billion. Charles River Laboratories International Inc CRL is projected to post its Q4 EPS at $0.56 on revenue of $282.74 million. Fidelity National Information Services Inc FIS is estimated to post its Q4 EPS at $0.65 on revenue of $1.49 billion. Charles River Laboratories International Inc CRL is projected to post its Q4 earnings at $0.55 per share on sales of $282.8 million. Masco Corporation MAS is projected to post a Q4 loss at $0.05 per share on revenue of $1.78 billion. European markets were higher today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index rose 0.80%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved up 1%, French CAC 40 index rose 0.50% and German DAX 30 index gained 0.80%. Asian markets ended mostly higher, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rising 0.58%, China's Shanghai Composite dropping 0.01% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving up 0.85%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index gained 0.50% and India's Sensex rose 0.14%. Crude oil for March delivery gained $0.91 to $99.58 a barrel. Gold futures for April delivery climbed $4.10 to $1,729.70 an ounce. The dollar index (DXY) fell 0.38% to 78.70, down from 79.149 in late trading at the end of last week. The euro rose 0.42% against the dollar to trade at $1.3261, up from $1.3165 in late North American trade on Friday.
