US stock futures are higher this morning, after upbeat results from Apple Inc AAPL. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 67 points to 13,026.00 and S&P 500 index futures rose 9.20 points to 1,379.30. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 49.75 points to 2,682.25.
US stocks closed mostly higher on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average gaining 0.58% to 13,001.56, the S&P 500 index rising 0.37% to 1,371.97 and the Nasdaq 100 index dropping 0.30% to 2,961.60.
Data on March durable goods orders will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. The FOMC is scheduled to announce its rate decision at 12:30 p.m. ET. The committee is scheduled to release its quarterly growth, employment and interest-rate estimates at 2 p.m. ET.
AutoNation Inc AN is expected to post its Q1 EPS at $0.53 on revenue of $3.61 billion. The Boeing Company BA is estimated to post its Q1 EPS at $0.93 on revenue of $18.37 billion. Caterpillar Inc CAT is expected to post its Q1 EPS at $2.13 on revenue of $16.22 billion. Southern Company SO is estimated to post its Q1 EPS at $0.48 on revenue of $4.10 billion.
Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc DPS is estimated to post its Q1 earnings at $0.48 per share on revenue of $1.36 billion. Lorillard Inc LO is projected to post its Q1 earnings at $2.00 per share on revenue of $1.20 billion. WellPoint Inc WLP is estimated to post its Q1 EPS at $2.27 on revenue of $15.26 billion. General Dynamics Corp GD is expected to post its Q1 earnings at $1.69 per share on revenue of $7.91 billion.
Harley-Davidson Inc HOG is expected to post its Q1 EPS at $0.72 on revenue of $1.22 billion. Sprint Nextel Corp S is expected to post a Q1 loss at $0.41 per share on revenue of $8.71 billion. Delta Air Lines Inc DAL is estimated to post a Q1 loss at $0.05 per share on revenue of $8.34 billion. Hess Corporation HES is estimated to post its Q1 EPS at $1.54 on revenue of $8.46 billion.
Shares of Apple Inc jumped about 9.2% in pre-market trading after the company reported a 93% surge in its earnings for the March quarter.
Juniper Networks Inc JNPR reported its Q1 profit at $16.27 million, or $0.03 per share, versus a profit of $129.8 million, or $0.24 per share, in the year-ago period.
European markets were higher today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index gained 0.75%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved up 0.31%, French CAC 40 index rose 1.41% and German DAX 30 index gained 1.34%.
Asian markets ended mixed, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rising 0.98%, China's Shanghai Composite rising 0.75%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index dropped 0.15% and India's Sensex fell 0.21%.
Nymex crude oil futures gained $0.48 to $104.03 a barrel in electronic trade. However, gold futures fell $5.40 to $1,638.40 an ounce.
The dollar index (DXY) declined 0.1% to 79.104. The euro gained 0.2% against the US dollar to trade at $1.3220.
The US dollar fell 0.2% versus the Japanese yen to trade at ¥81.22.
