US stock futures are lower this morning, as investors are awaiting earnings from Goldman Sachs Group GS and JPMorgan Chase & Co JPM. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 37 points to 13,426.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 3.60 points to 1,461.60. Nasdaq 100 futures declined 1.25 points to 2,713.00.
US stocks closed slightly higher on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.20% to 13,534.89, the S&P 500 index gaining 0.11% to 1,472.34 and the Nasdaq 100 index dropping 0.22% to 3,110.78.
The consumer price index for December will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET, while industrial production data for December will be released at 9:15 a.m. ET. NAHB housing market index for January will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET. The Fed's Beige Book will be released at 2 p.m. ET.
The Goldman Sachs Group is estimated to report its Q4 earnings at $3.78 per share on revenue of $7.91 billion. Comerica CMA is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.65 per share on revenue of $620.16 million. eBay EBAY is projected to post its Q4 earnings at $0.69 per share on revenue of $3.97 billion.
JPMorgan Chase & Co is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $1.16 per share on revenue of $24.42 billion. The Bank of New York Mellon BK is estimated to report its Q4 earnings at $0.53 per share on revenue of $ 3.60 billion. M&T Bank MTB is expected to report its Q4 earnings at $2.18 per share on revenue of $1.12 billion.
HB Fuller Co FUL is projected to post its Q4 earnings at $0.56 per share on revenue of $517.45 million. U.S. Bancorp USB is estimated to report its Q4 earnings at $0.74 per share on revenue of $5.16 billion. Kinder Morgan KMI is estimated to post its Q4 earnings at $0.35 per share on revenue of $3.02 billion.
Vera Bradley VRA raised its fourth-quarter earnings view
Interactive Brokers Group IBKR reported a 33% drop in its fourth-quarter net income.
Linear Technology LLTC reported downbeat Q2 results.
European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index fell 0.34%, London's FTSE 100 Index dropped 0.49%, German DAX 30 Index dropped 0.19% and French CAC 40 Index fell 0.37%.
Asian markets ended mostly lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average falling 2.56%, China's Shanghai Composite dropping 0.70% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 Index rising 0.46%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 0.10% and India's Sensex tumbled 0.85%.
The ICE dollar index (DXY) fell 0.09% to trade at 79.70, down from 79.721 in late North American trading on Tuesday.
The dollar dropped 0.72% against the Japanese yen to trade at ¥88.14, down from ¥88.92 in late Tuesday. The euro declined 0.03% against the greenback to $1.3301, versus $1.3313.
Crude-oil futures for February delivery gained $0.12 to $93.40 a barrel in electronic trading.
