A Peek Into The Markets: U.S. Stock Futures Edge Higher Ahead Of Fed Speakers

U.S. stock futures traded higher in early pre-market trade. The current account report for the first quarter is schedule for release at 8:30 a.m. ET. Boston Federal Reserve Bank President Eric Rosengren will speak in Amsterdam at 8:15 a.m. ET, while Dallas Federal Reserve Bank President Robert Kaplan will speak in San Francisco at 3:00 p.m. ET.

Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 13 points to 21,475.00, while the Standard & Poor’s 500 index futures rose 0.50 points to 2,448.25. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index gained 12.75 points to 5,779.25.

Oil prices traded lower as Brent crude futures fell 1.79 percent to trade at $46.07 per barrel, while US WTI crude futures dropped 2.04 percent to trade at $43.30 a barrel.


A Peek Into Global Markets

European markets were mostly higher today, with the Spanish Ibex Index falling 0.39 percent, STOXX Europe 600 Index rising 0.04 percent and German DAX 30 index gaining 0.25 percent. The UK's FTSE index was trading higher by 0.15 percent, while French CAC 40 Index rose 0.32 percent.

In Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei Stock Average rose 0.81 percent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index declined 0.31 percent, China’s Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.14 percent and India’s BSE Sensex slipped 0.04 percent.
