US Stock Futures Mixed As Investors Await Earnings Reports, McDonald's In Focus

US stock futures are mixed this morning, as investors are awaiting earnings report from McDonald's Corp MCD and other major companies. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 3 points to 11,825.00, while S&P 500 futures lost 0.20 point to 1,279.50. Nasdaq 100 futures rose 0.50 point to 2,269.50. US stocks closed higher on Friday, with the blue-chip Dow index rising 49.04 points, or 0.41%. It advanced 0.7% last week. No major economic data are due for release today. Before the opening bell, McDonald's Corp is forecast to report its Q4 EPS at $1.15 on revenue of $6.21 billion. Halliburton Company HAL is estimated to report its earnings at $0.63 per share on revenue of $4.87 billion in fourth-quarter. CSX Corp CSX is expected to report its Q4 earnings at $1.10 per share on revenue of $2.67 billion. Amgen Inc AMGN may report its Q4 EPS at $1.10 on revenue of $3.81 billion. After the closing bell, Texas Instruments Incorporated TXN is projected to post its Q4 earnings at $0.63 per share on revenue of $3.50 billion. American Express Company AXP is expected to report its Q4 EPS at $0.94 on revenue of $7.29 billion. US-listed shares of Royal Philips Electronics PHG dipped about 6.5% in pre-market trading, after the company reported weaker-than-expected quarterly profit. Rock Tenn Co RKT announced its plans to purchase Smurfit Stone Container Corp SSCC for $35 per share, or about $3.5 billion. European markets were mixed today. While STOXX Europe 600 Index has dropped 0.17%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved up 0.23%. Asian markets ended mixed, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average adding 0.69%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving up 0.56% and China's Shanghai Composite dropping 0.72%. The US dollar gained against its major rivals, with the dollar index (DXY) gaining about 0.27%. Against the greenback, the euro dropped about 0.5%, while the dollar rose around 0.4% versus the Japanese yen. Crude-oil futures dropped $0.78 to $88.32 per barrel in electronic trading on Globex.
