US Stock Futures Signal Lower Start On Wall Street

US stock futures are lower this morning, as the nation's debt ceiling talks failed to progress. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 88 points to 12,533.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 8.60 points to 1,331.40. Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 12.25 points to 2,415.75. US stocks closed mixed on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.34% to 12,681.16, the S&P 500 index rising 0.09% to 1,345.02 and the Nasdaq 100 index gaining 0.86% to 2,858.83. Kimberly Clark Corp KMB is expected to report its Q2 earnings at $1.15 per share on revenue of $5.13 billion. Broadcom Corp BRCM is estimated to post its Q2 earnings at $0.63 per share on revenue of $1.80 billion. Baker Hughes Incorporated BHI is expected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.91 on revenue of $4.55 billion. Texas Instruments Inc TXN is estimated to report its Q2 earnings at $0.53 per share on revenue of $3.44 billion. Anadarko Petroleum Corp APC is projected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.95 per share on revenue of $3.49 billion. Masco Corporation MAS is expected to post is Q2 EPS at $0.07 on revenue of $1.98 billion. Netflix Inc NFLX is projected to post its Q2 earnings at $1.11 per share on revenue of $791.48 million. Lorillard Inc LO is projected to report its Q2 EPS at $2.02 on revenue of $1.21 billion. Baidu Inc BIDU is projected to post its Q2 EPS at $0.66 on revenue of $502.30 million. Moody's Investors Service downgraded Greece's sovereign debt by three notches from Caa1 to Ca. European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index dropped 0.16%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved down 0.07%, French CAC 40 index fell 0.06% and German DAX 30 index dropped 0.27%. Most Asian markets ended lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average gaining 1.22%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving down 1.50% and China's Shanghai Composite dropping 2.96%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 0.6750% and India's Sensex surged 0.90%. Gold futures for August delivery surged 1.08% to $1,618.60 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX).
