US Stock Futures Up On Debt Agreement

US stock futures are higher this morning, after Republican and Democratic leaders in the Senate and House of Representatives reached an agreement to raise the nation's debt ceiling. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 119 points to 12,207.00 and S&P 500 index futures rose 8.50 points to 1,300.10. Nasdaq 100 futures jumped 24.00 points to 2,383.25. US stocks closed lower on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.79% to 12,143.24, the S&P 500 index declining 0.65% to 1,292.28 and the Nasdaq 100 index dipping 0.36% to 2,756.38. Allstate Corporation (The) ALL is projected to report its Q2 EPS at $1.46 on revenue of $7.99 billion. Texas Roadhouse Inc TXRH is projected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.23 on revenue of $280.03 million. Loews Corporation L is expected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.74 per share. Humana Inc HUM is projected to report its Q2 EPS at $2.06 on revenue of $9.32 billion. Atlas Pipeline Partners LP APL is projected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.34 on revenue of $288.71 million. Honda Motor Co HMC reported an 88% decline in its quarterly profit and lifted its full-year outlook. European markets were higher today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index gained 0.58%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved up 1.12%, French CAC 40 index rose 0.71% and German DAX 30 index gained 0.72%. Asian markets ended higher, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rising 1.3884%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving up 1.6132% and China's Shanghai Composite gaining 0.08%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 0.9943% and India's Sensex surged 0.49%. The US dollar gained 1% against the Japanese yen to trade at ¥77.55. The dollar index climbed 0.1% to 73.83. The December gold contract declined $12.60 to $1,618.60 an ounce.
