US Stock Futures Signal Higher Start On Wall Street

US stock futures are higher this morning. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 73 points to 10,893.00 and futures on the S&P 500 stock index rose 9.30 points to 1,132.80. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 22.00 points to 2,063.00. US stocks closed lower on Friday, with the Dow Jones industrial average dropping 1.57% to 10,817.65, the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index dipping 1.50% to 1,123.53 and the NASDAQ composite index declining 1.62% to 2,341.84. Focus Media Holding Limited FMCN is expected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.37 on revenue of $162.69 million. Suntech Power Holdings Co Ltd STP is projected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.16 on revenue of $799.73 million. Navios Maritime Holdings Inc NM is estimated to report its Q2 earnings at $0.17 per share on revenue of $151.99 million. Perfect World Co Ltd PWRD is projected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.57 on revenue of $107.80 million. Shares of Hewlett-Packard Company HPQ dipped 20.03% in regular-trading on Friday after the company lowered its sales forecast and confirmed its plans to buy Autonomy Corp for $42.11 per share. Asian markets ended mixed, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average dipping 1.0449%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving down 0.51% and China's Shanghai Composite dropping 0.73%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 0.4482% and India's Sensex gained 1.24%. European markets were higher today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index has gained 1.21%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved up 1.35%, German DAX 30 index rose 0.52% and France CAC 40 index gained 1.67%. Nymex crude futures gained $0.60 to $82.86 a barrel in electronic trade. The US dollar gained against most major rivals. The dollar gained 0.07% versus the Japanese yen to trade at 76.81 Japanese yen. The euro gained 0.17% versus the greenback to trade at $1.4407.
