A Peek Into The Markets: U.S. Stock Futures Edge Higher; Lululemon Profit Misses Views

Pre-open movers US stock futures traded higher in early pre-market trade. The job openings report for April will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET, while EIA's report on petroleum inventories will be released at 10:30 a.m. ET. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 22 points to 17,956, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index futures rose 3.25 points to 2,113.75. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index gained 4.5 points to 4,519. Oil prices also traded higher as Brent crude futures gained 1.42 percent to trade at $52.12 per barrel, while US WTI crude futures also gained 1.39 percent to trade at $51.00 a barrel. A Peek Into Global Markets European markets were lower today, with the Spanish Ibex Index falling 0.63 percent, STOXX Europe 600 Index declining 0.39 percent and German DAX 30 index dropping 0.49 percent. The UK's FTSE index was trading lower by 0.02 percent, while French CAC 40 Index fell 0.37 percent. U.K. industrial production increased 2 percent in April. In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rose 0.93 percent, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 0.14 percent, China's Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.30 percent and India's BSE Sensex gained 0.04 percent. China's exports declined 4.1 percent in May, while imports dropped 0.4 percent year-over-year in the same period. Broker Recommendation Analysts at Barclays downgraded VeriFone Systems Inc PAY from Overweight to Equal-weight and lowered the price target from $37.00 to $23.00.
