A Peek Into The Markets: U.S. Stock Futures Signal Lower Start On Wall Street

 

Pre-open movers

U.S. stock futures traded lower in early pre-market trade. The Dallas Fed general activity index for November will be released at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 63 points to 19,081.00, while the Standard & Poor’s 500 index futures dropped 7 points to 2,204.25. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index declined 11.25 points to 4,857.25.

Oil prices traded lower as Brent crude futures fell 0.42 percent to trade at $47.04 per barrel, while US WTI crude futures also fell 0.46 percent to trade at $45.85 a barrel.

 

A Peek Into Global Markets

European markets were lower today, with the Spanish Ibex Index dropping 0.36 percent, STOXX Europe 600 Index falling 0.82 percent and German DAX 30 index dropping 0.95 percent. The UK's FTSE index was trading lower by 0.64 percent, while French CAC 40 Index declined 0.83 percent.

In Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei Stock Average fell 0.13 percent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index gained 0.47 percent, China’s Shanghai Composite Index climbed 0.46 percent and India’s BSE Sensex gained 0.13 percent.


Broker Recommendation

Analysts at Piper Jaffray upgraded Gap Inc GPS from Underweight to Neutral.

Gap shares fell 2.33 percent to close at $25.57 on Friday.
